Where did May go?

WOW! May blew in and out of here in a flash! It was such a busy month-filled with family and activities that it went by in a blur. Thank goodness I caught some memories to share.

Sunday, May 5th was our granddaughter, Emily's First Communion. She is wearing the same first communion dress that her older sister, Katelyn, wore two years ago (and younger sister, Madison, will wear next year). She is also wearing the same veil that her mother wore for her first communion. We like family traditions like that. It was a spectacularly beautiful day that was so special for us all. Emily was absolutely angelic.

Friday, May 10th was our granddaughter, Sofie's pre-K graduation. She was so excited. And she looked so adorable in her cap and gown! They even played Pomp and Circumstance as they paraded in~and it made me think about how fast time flies and that in the blink of an eye it will be her high school graduation.

Saturday was Katelyn's (granddaughter #1) soccer tournament. This is her 4th season to play and her first year as goalie. She did an awesome job and I loved watching her play each Saturday morning. I am always sad to see the season end.

Sunday, May 12th we celebrated Mother's Day. My mother-in-law, my daughters and I had a wonderfully relaxing day as all the men in our family did the meal planning, prep, cooking AND clean up! We also celebrated two May birthdays that day-our youngest son, Matthew, turned 34 on May 10 and Madison (granddaughter #3) turned 7 on May 23.

On Thursday, May 16th, I was a chaperone on the 4th grade field trip to Stone Mountain. I got to tag along with Katelyn and two of her friends for the day. We had a tour of the antebellum plantation, rode the sky lift to the top of the mountain, rode the train around the base of the mountain, saw a 3-D movie, and they walked the Sky Walk attraction. It was a fun day and we were all exhausted by the time we got back to the school at 6PM!

Saturday, May 18th was Sofie's dance recital. She and her fellow dancers were adorable as they showed off all the ballet moves they had learned through the year.

So, school is out and summer has begun. Last week I took Katelyn, Emily and Madison to the movies and lunch on Tuesday. They spent the night Wednesday night and on Thursday we went to Noah's Ark. It is an awesome wild animal rescue and sanctuary and located only 30 miles from my house. We had a great time and are going to go back often. I took pics of the animals, but didn't get a good one with the girls in it.

It doesn't look like life is going to slow down any in June. I started the month with a 5K fun run sponsored by SuperCon. All proceeds went to the Ben Cohen Standup Foundation-a stop bullying awareness group. Everyone was supposed to dress as your favorite superhero or a hero of your own making. I went with my daughter, son-in-law and 4 youngest grands. My daughter went as SuperMom!

And she is one-she is the mom of Sofia, (5 in June), Chloe, (turned 3 in April), Ella (20 months) and Ollie (4 months). She made her cape, SuperWoman dresses for each of the girls, and Batman shorts for Ollie---all the day before the race!!!!!

Here is Chloe after the race. I love the fabric Melissa made the girls' dresses out of. Each dress was slightly different. The tutorial to make a peasant dress is here. Chloe takes her Minnie Mouse everywhere with her.

Ella is a doll in her pillowcase dress. You can follow the tutorial here to make one for your little sweetie.

Of course, no Superhero costume is complete without a mask. Ella loves to wears hers.

I went as SuperGrammy! HaHa! I made my T-shirt, complete with lightning bolt and SG. And on the back it says "Super Grammy" in bold letters. I figure any Grammy who can push a double stroller for 5K in 86 degree weather deserves the title :)

I left the fun run and went straight to a luau at my mother-in-law's complex. My husband and sister-in-law were there too. The food was great and we had a really good time.

Last, but not least, our little Ollie is growing up so fast. It's hard to believe that he is almost 4 months old now. He is one happy baby.

We are definitely "feeling the love" in our family......

Now...back to the quilt room.

Happy Stitching.

  1. You are blessed with such a large and wonderful family. It is great that you can all share in each others lives. You have most definitely been busy. And I know you would not want it any other way. Hope you do get some quilty time in soon too!
